Hop on Pop
Henry just read all of "Hop on Pop" to me tonight, at bedtime. He was certainly helped by his intimate knowledge of the book, but whenever he paraphrased I asked him to try again and he carefully read each word as written. Well, all but the last two pages-- he was pooped out by then and said, "Mama, why don't you read these because I want you to have a chance to read some." (Hmmm. Sounds like a future lawyer, politician, or boss. Or Tom Sawyer.) He told me he was going to have to practice his reading a LOT this summer because next year he will be in kindergarten and the teachers are going to want him to read a LOT more.

Hop On Pop!
The next thing you know he'll be reading my favorite literary masterpiece:
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish!
Yey, Henry! Way to go!
Love,
Kirsti & Tim
Good going, Henry. You are hopping on reading early!!! Good work. Love, Auntie Grace
Amelia, I have so much catching up to do!! Hop on Pop was Frances' first truly independent reading success and it was SO exciting. They can read it to each other when we come! Hooray for Henry, our marvelous, complicated, bright and beautiful, new reading friend.
