Spring at last

Reader, it has been a busy and adventuresome couple of weeks since my last post! The most important news is that spring has finally arrived. Two weeks ago, the last weekend of February, we had our last snowstorm, and now the massive snow piles have all melted, the crocuses and snowdrops are blooming, and the daffodils are six inches tall. This time of year is always so miraculous.
We really needed the spring to help cure our unending family viruses. Last weekend was really the nadir: Agatha and I came down with the extremely snotty cold that Henry had brought home, and she woke up on Saturday with swollen, gunky eyes, the infected result of her tears failing to drain through clogged sinuses. Sunday morning she was better, but I noticed that her crankiness was only increasing and realized she was pushing out three new molars. She was so inconsolable at times that I even tried nursing her again, after a full week of being weaned. Then, Henry came running in from outside, wailing and dripping blood on the floor: he had fallen on the concrete and scraped up the side of his face. (And I was still sick.)
That was one week ago, and things are looking up considerably now: Henry's face is nearly healed, Agatha's molars are through and her sweet disposition has returned, and none of us is sick (although I still have a cough). Most importantly, we had a lot of fun this week! It was Henry's Spring Break, and we spent the first part of the week in Berkeley Springs, WV, and the second part here in Lancaster co-hosting our beloved Uncle Tim and Aunt Kirsti. More posts to come on those two wonderful adventures.
