Itty Bitty Baseball

The past few weeks, Henry's gone to a once-a-week baseball class for 3-5 year olds at the local rec center. He got a hand-me-down baseball outfit from a big friend that he adores, plus the boy next door plays baseball, so baseball became a fascination for him. We signed him up for this class, and he and Michael went and learned how to throw, wait for a ball, field, run the bases, and bat off the tee. He was a little impatient with the skills at first, because he wanted to play real baseball on a real field like a real baseball player. But unlike in the past, he was a good participator here and really seemed to enjoy it. I didn't get to witness it first-hand, but the pictures testify to the cuteness. Interestingly, Henry is physically left-handed, although he writes right-handed-- just like Michael. Michael sees this as further evidence of Henry's superiority. By the way, you might notice a red pocket on his baseball pants; that was Henry's own idea and he sewed it on himself. He said he needed it to hold all his baseball stuff.

Wonderful photos of Henry's baseball adventures. Interesting that he bats left-handed. Tee ball will be next, I would guess.
