Goody Two-Shoes

Henry has suddenly gotten interested in being good, doing the right thing. It's like all those rules and expectations suddenly sunk in after years of rolling off his back. He told Michael a long list of things he was going to do right from now on, like "using his walking feet" (something they must say at preschool) and then ran into the kitchen and told me, "Mom, I'm going to wash my hands with soap every day." Huh? We've also noticed that he's much more sensitive to our disappointment in him. We have to be careful not to be too hard on him now or he gets really sad and we feel terrible. It's a very interesting and welcome development!

Sentence of the day: "Mom, I just can't believe that snakes smell with their tongues-- that's crazy!"

Another thing I've noticed & love, is that he keeps up a running commentary of imaginative play! Last week when the two of us were at the park it was so wonderful to observe him. He talked almost non-stop! Setting up his playing, describing the characters, setting the rules, enlisting my participation and setting my parameters. I love it and feel so fortunate to be nearby and be part of it.
