Chow Dogs

The kids have been astounding me lately with the amount of food they are consuming. Since Michael and I can put it away too, this has meant that lots of calories are being bought, prepared, and ingested in our house. This week I made a simple dinner of pasta with tomato sauce and a large bowl of salad. An entire pound of whole-wheat rigatoni was consumed-- there were maybe six sad-looking noodles in the bowl at the end of the meal (plus the salad!). Yesterday I made an enormous pot of vegetarian curry, and had lots of leftovers for today-- so I thought. But here's what Henry ate today (as far as I know): Breakfast-- one bowl of grape nuts, one bowl of oatmeal. Cup of milk. Lunch-- three bowls of curry with rice. Snack at Gran's house-- whole apple, two Hershey's kisses. Dinner-- two bowls of curry, two bowls of fruit cocktail, four bowls of rigatoni with pesto. Yikes!

This sounds like the hollow leg sydrome in the Rauser/Clapper household and lots of trips to the market and vegetable vendor for the persons who are cooking. If someone could just deliver to my door all the food that I needed to shop for--I would be a happier person. All that shopping, unpacking, putting away--makes the cooking seem like a delight. Keep eating and enjoying the results. Love, Auntie Grace

Welcome to our world! Though Henry might have my kids beat...lately we've had many many 'eating days' where I feel like I am throwing fish to seals all day long. Except the fish in this case is slices of cheese and edamame and apples and peanut butters and pounds of pasta with special magic green sauce - which does take a bit more preparation. Where does it all go?

I feel your pain...Miles eats all day long. No joke. He eats as much as me and to top it all off he also poops like 5 times a day. So I have to deal with both ends of the issue. (Sorry if that was tmi) By the way, what is magic green sauce. I am always looking for easy and healthy meal ideas.

She has the magic green sauce (for picky children) on there and lots of other creative mama ideas.

Love to you!
